Hair Extension FAQs
If you’ve been thinking about getting hair extensions, you probably have a lot of questions. Let’s start here & see if we can answer any of your questions!
-
Because extensions are an investment! We want to see your hair in person so we can color match you, see your natural texture and density, and make the right recommendations for you based on your goals. Extensions aren’t a one size fits all service. We customize your experience from the very beginning – because if we're going to do this, we're going to do it right.
-
To give you a rough ballpark: extensions at Ethos typically range from $650 to $3,000.
But here's why we can't just give you an exact number online. We need to see your hair first. Look at your texture, talk about what you want, and figure out how much hair it's actually going to take to get you there. Some people need more, some need less. We'd rather tell you the real number up front than surprise you later.
We'll go over your budget, show you what's possible at different price points, and make sure we're on the same page before we book anything. Just real numbers and no surprises later.

At Ethos, we try and keep things as simple as possible and offer package pricing. When you’re purchasing an extensions package you’re getting the the hair, the install, the custom root to blend your extensions with your own hair, cut to blend, and some complimentary products to take home. We want to make sure you’re completely set up for success from the beginning.

For weft extensions – we recommend maintenance about every 6-8 weeks for a reinstall. We completely remove your wefts, resection and bead your hair and reinstall. This allows us to give you a good cleanse, assess your scalp & adjust your placement if needed!
For keratins – we recommend removing your extensions after 3 - 4 months. We remove your bonds and reinstall completely new hair. -
With weft extensions – proper home care will get you about 9 - 12 months of wear out of your investment!
With custom keratin bonds – the hair lasts the lifespan of the install (about 3-4 months). We don't reuse the hair after we remove it. Each bond is custom made to match your hair's density and texture and they’re handmade specifically for where they go in your head.By the time we remove them, the hair has shed and the quality has broken down. Rebonding and repositioning them wouldn't give you the same luxury results, and they wouldn't look as good as the first time or last as long.

Here's the truth: they can!
It all comes down to how well they're installed and how well you take care of them at home.If a stylist does an improper install, that can absolutely cause damage. We don't overload your hair with too much weight and we don't cause excess tension. We make sure the weight is distributed right so your natural hair isn't stressed.
Even the most perfect install can go sideways if you don't maintain them at home. Improper aftercare (skipping brushing, excess tension from brushing too harshly or how you’re wearing your hair) can cause damage too.
So will they damage your hair? Not if we do our part and you do yours. We'll set you up for success with a solid install and clear instructions. But you have to follow through at home. If you're not ready to commit to the gentle maintenance, we don’t recommend getting extensions quite yet. 🤍 -
We offer custom keratin extensions as an add on to your weft extensions service! We can place them per area (we like them the most in the nape or in the front through the sides) to reach those pesky areas that wefts can’t.
-
No, not if you don’t want them to! We want the most natural look and blend. We spend a ton of time at your consultation making sure we’re choosing the right hair type and texture, and color to make sure there are no give-aways. When we install your hair we also make sure to cut your extensions to blend into your own hair seamlessly.
-
Yes! Keratin extensions are an incredible option for a healthy, weightless install. Of course this depends on how fine, thin, or damaged your hair is. We can assess your hair during a consult and make sure you’re a good candidate. We see major success with clients’ hair growing longer and even minimizing breakage by getting extensions.
